Chalking is the latest expression of creativity in the world of hair artistry. Hair chalking produces a temporary result, lasting until it is rinsed or shampooed from the hair. This provides the opportunity to try bolder, more avant-garde colors without the commitment of permanent dye.

For those not wanting to put chemicals into their hair, chalking gives expressive color and artistic effects without harsh ingredients or odor. The cost is much less, making it more affordable for a larger audience. Kids can use chalking to experience rainbow colors for the weekend – washing them out before returning to school. Many use chalking to show support for their favorite sports team, or attending a concert or party.

One might be compelled to run to their local art supply store and pick up chalk to begin a hair project. Not so fast! Special “hair chalk” is required. Art store chalk, intended for blackboard or sidewalk, will dehydrate the hair and not produce a vibrant, long lasting result.
