National Night Out, conducted in communities all over the country, showcases law enforcement’s efforts to protect the citizenry. National Night Out is sponsored locally by the National Association of Town Watch and hosted by the Margate Police in concert with Margate Parks and Recreation.

Designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, National Night Out generates support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs; strengthens neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and sends a message to criminals, letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back against crime.

Enjoy a variety of events and activities, including bike safety, KidsPrint, police and military static displays, animal shows, children’s carnival rides and more. Enjoy free hot dogs, popcorn, snow cones, refreshments and giveaways.

National Night Out takes place August 5, 7 to 10pm, at the Margate Sports Complex, 1755 Banks Road, Margate. Free parking near the Sports Complex. Natural Awakenings will have a table on-site with current and past issues available.

The benefits our local community and communities all over the country derive from National Night Out will certainly extend well beyond the one night.
