The Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine (ATOM), downtown Fort Lauderdale, launched its Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) program in January 2013. ATOM is the first Traditional Chinese Medicine School to have a doctoral program on the east coast of the U.S. The DAOM is a clinically based, advanced professional program with a specialty in TCM Internal Medicine, and is open to individuals with a master’s degree in Oriental Medicine or licensed practitioners. The curriculum is based on the integration of biomedicine with the modern and classical application of Chinese Medicine.

Once a month, ATOM will open the DAOM clinic to the public for a free consultation and treatment for specific medical problems, such as Liver Disease, Cardiac Disease, etc., which will be listed in the Natural Awakenings Calendar of Events for April's edition. The DAOM clinic will be looking for patients with problems in those specific areas to come to the DAOM clinic and be seen by Licensed Acupuncturists who will be supervised by an expert in that field.
